Frequency Precise Power Inverter, 115V AC output at 12 watts. Need more power? Please check out our new Athena here!
The Model 1930-115V will power 115V clocks (e.g., any electric clock of USA origin; perfect for clock radios) up to 12 watts. Frequency can be selected as needed, either 50Hz or 60Hz. Can be powered from anywhere in the world regardless of frequency or voltage. Unit will be equipped to accommodate plug style for the shipping address provided to us. This unit will do all of the voltage, frequency, and plug conversion you need. Note: If your device has a 3-terminal plug (with grounding terminal), consider the Model 1935-60W.
Application and Background. For the last 90+ years, the United States (and many other countries) have produced alternating current (AC) power line voltage at a frequency that is very precise. In North America this frequency is exactly 60.0000 Hz. It is 50.0000 Hz for most locations outside North America. The motor within the timing device synchronously “locks” to this frequency and therefore the timekeeping follows this frequency. However if a clock or other timing device designed for 50Hz (manufactured in Europe or Asia) is powered here in the USA, the clock will gain time at a rate of 12 minutes per hour! The reverse is also true; eg, timing devices designed for North America's 60Hz system will lose time at a rate of 12 minutes per hour if powered in Europe or Asia.
The Model 1930 will precisely convert 60Hz power to 50Hz, or 50Hz power to 60Hz with accuracy of 2 parts per million, or .0002%. With this performance, the clock or other timing device will be accurate to 4 seconds per month or better. Can conventional AC travel converters do the job? Absolutely not; virtually none of these devices convert frequency and those that do are simply not precise. Additionally, no other device is triple-protected against faults.
If you only need voltage conversion, consider the Model 1930 family products to replace those bulky, heavy, noisy transformers with this super quiet unit. The Model 1930 family are designed to be comfortable and quiet anywhere from the bed stand to a high-end audio system.
Technology. Powering clocks requires a pure sine waveform at the exact frequency to assure quiet operation. The Model 1930 uses a precision Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) in combination with an internal computer-controlled calibration methodology to achieve instrumentation-level frequency precision. It also uses a proprietary amplifier to produce a clean sine wave which silently powers the device. This assures reliable, efficient, and very accurate operation, so the clock or other device can be used in any location.
Note that it is also possible to operate the Model 1930 family products from a 12 volt battery, using a cigarette lighter plug or similar. Please contact us if you need more information on this configuration.
Do you need more power? Does your device require a grounding terminal (three terminal plug)? Consider our award-winning Model 1935-60W, capable of 60 watt output.
Important Note: Please allow standard 1-2 weeks delivery (2-3 weeks on international orders) ARO unless otherwise noted in product description. The Model 1930 products are built to order; all are handcrafted to assure impeccable quality. These products are high precision; they require pre-shipment calibration and verification which requires time to validate quality performance.
Unless otherwise noted at Checkout, a handling fee of $5.00 is included in each order (also covers packaging material) in the continental United States for the Model 1930 series. Therefore the total shipping number shown in Checkout is the sum of the actual fee (from the carrier, usually USPS) plus this handling fee. Our standard carrier is USPS Priority in the USA and USPS International outside the USA because they have proven reliable and economical. If you desire some other shipper, please advise us by email at the time of order. Global Express Guaranteed service is available but is much more expensive.
We strive to provide and adhere to best estimate possible at time of order, and to provide the most economical shipping. Ken's Clock Clinic reserves the right to adjust shipping fees or carriers to accommodate order size and destination (especially with international orders), since it is difficult to know what the exact shipping costs will be until we know where the unit will be shipped. If an adjustment is necessary you will be notified prior to shipment and will be invoiced accordingly.
Be advised that on international orders, there may be customs delays and fees once it arrives in the destination country. The buyer is responsible for these fees; we have no control over the customs process. Please do not ask us to expedite through customs or ship anything as a gift; this is not possible for us to do.
